... TO THE HISTORY OF CANADA’S OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY
From humble beginnings almost 100 years ago, the oil and gas industry has grown to become one of our country’s most important industries. Given its current size and influence, it’s difficult to imagine the industry in its earliest days. With little in the way of technology or advanced machinery, oil and gas pioneers built the industry with hard work, perseverance and old-fashioned luck.
Since Dingman No.1 gushed in Turner Valley in 1914, the industry has been built on the sacrifices and successes of its workers – workers who often remain faceless. It’s the stories of the people who created the industry that lend life and colour to its history – they deserve to be recognized.
CANADA’S PETROLEUM PIONEERS – 2011 SERIES
The Canada’s Petroleum Pioneers product line has been created to document the history of the oil and gas industry in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, but also to pay tribute to the people who built the industry – the workers and their families. The 2011 Series of Canada’s Petroleum Pioneers line of heritage products includes:
• Framed Vintage Photography
• 2011 Historical Showcase Calendar
These products are built on intensive archival research that has uncovered rare historic photographs and stories that bring the oil and gas industry’s history to life. Relive key discoveries, successes and challenges through the eyes of the people who were there. Canada’s Petroleum Pioneers offers a visual and textual record of how the oil and gas industry arrived at where it is today. It’s a celebration of the men and women who built the industry.
