In 1917, Max Bell first got into the oil business when he join ed the Roxana Petroleum Company, a Shell subsidiary. Ball arrived in Edmonton in 1930 and that same year he founded Canadian Northern Oil Sands Products Ltd, which would go on to become Abasands Oil Ltd. in 1935.
